Effects

Custom Colors

Custom colors can be developed, but some variation is inherent to the vinyl pressing process.

Key considerations:

  • Each color compound has its own properties, such as density and viscosity, and will react differently when combined.
  • References such as photos or PMS colors are used as guidelines and cannot be matched exactly.
  • Black and certain dark colors are highly dominant and can significantly influence the final result.
  • Mixing colors will not produce a perfectly uniform appearance.
  • Variations, swirls, and differences between records are normal and expected.

Eco Mix

Eco Mix vinyl is made from recycled material, resulting in naturally blended and unpredictable colors.

How to choose:

  • The final color cannot be controlled, as it depends entirely on the recycled PVC used.
  • Each batch is unique, which is part of the character of this option.
  • Swirls, streaks, and color variations are inherent to the process.
  • If a uniform and consistent color is required, using virgin PVC is recommended.

Splatter

Splatter vinyl features random bursts of color on a base, creating a bold, energetic, and unpredictable look.

How to choose:

  • Choose a base color and 1 to 3 splatter colors for the best visual result.
  • A strong contrast, such as a light base with darker splatter, will make the effect stand out more clearly.
  • Dark or black base colors tend to absorb the splatter, resulting in a more subtle appearance.
  • Small splatter marks may appear on the label; these are acceptable as long as the text remains readable.
  • Each record is unique, with natural variations across the run.

Color in Color

Color in Color features a smaller, centered color pressed within a larger outer color, creating a clean and striking visual effect.

How to choose:

  • For the best result, select contrasting colors between the center and the outer area.
  • A transparent outer color combined with a solid center typically produces the most defined look.
  • When using similar colors, the effect will appear more subtle.
  • If both colors are solid, the result may become more random and can resemble an A/B side effect.

Smokey

Smokey vinyl creates a soft, cloudy effect with a smooth and subtle color fade.

How to choose:

  • This effect works best with one base color and one secondary “smoke” color.
  • A light transparent base combined with a darker solid color will create the most visible effect.
  • It is also possible to use a light opaque base, although this may require a specific compound to enhance contrast.
  • Since the effect is naturally subtle, low-contrast color combinations should be avoided.
  • Each record will display slight variations, adding to its uniqueness.

Marble

Marble vinyl features a dynamic and textured blend of colors, with more defined movement than a smokey effect.

How to choose:

  • This effect works best with two to three contrasting colors to create depth and movement.
  • Different production techniques, such as standard mixing or hand-pouring, can be used to achieve specific results.
  • The chosen technique will influence both the final appearance and the pricing.
  • Natural variations are to be expected, making each record unique.

Half / Half

Half / Half vinyl creates a clean and balanced 50/50 split between two colors.

How to choose:

  • Select two distinct colors to clearly define the split.
  • Both solid and transparent colors can be combined depending on the desired look.
  • A slight blend may appear where the two colors meet at the center.
  • Minor label wrinkling can occur at the split; this is acceptable as long as the label is not torn.
